When a document has been edited since last save operation, an asterisk is shown as expected besides the file name in the file tab in Tabs for Word.
However, the asterisk is not removed when the file is saved, neither using Ctrl-S, nor right-clicking on the file tab and selecting 'Save', nor selecting File -Save in the program ribbon.
The asterisk is removed only upon clicking on the document or if the file is saved for the very first time after its creation.
Moreover, Word hangs upon saving a file using right-click on the file tab when there are 2 or more files open.

Hello,
1. Please make sure you have installed the latest version.
2. If the problem persists with the new version of the software, please try to disable all the other add-ins in your Word add-ins manager.
Thanks in advance.

I have also experienced this problem.

I am using version 13.10 (32 bit), so decided to disable as many add-ins as possible, as suggested by the moderator.

The results:
1. When only one Word file is open (and one tab showing), editing the file does not result in the * showing. In other words, there is no indication in the tab that the file has been modified.
2. When I open another file (and so another tab) then the * suddenly appears in the first tab. But the * doesn't appear in the second tab. if I open a third tab, then I see the * in the second tab. And so on and so forth.

In addition, the function "Open in new Window) causes more serious problems. It attempts to open the file in a previous version of Word (2010) installed on my PC, which in turn triggers the install routine for Office 2010. I am able to cancel the install, but the file opens in Word 2010, and the new Window is not accessible from Windows. The file is open in Word 2010 though, because it can't be moved, deleted etc. And even though i cancel the Office 2010 install, it has still changed the defaults for doc and docx so i have to reset these as well.

There seems to be something badly wrong with this version of Tabs for Word.

1. Please try to disable all the other add-ins in your Word add-ins manager.
2. Do you have installed the Office 2010 in your computer? Do you have other versions of Office?
Thanks in advance.

1. Uninstalled Tabs, reinstalled it using the url you provided. Removed as many add ins as i could.
2. Anomalous behaviour with Open in New Window has disappeared. This may be because i ran the "Repair" option on Office 2016, which may have removed some remaining hook to Office 2010.
3. Anomalous behaviour with Save Status Not Updated unchanged, i.e. with one tab open no update; two tabs open then only first tab updates; three tabs open ... etc etc

Since i've removed almost all the add-ins, and two of us are reporting the problem with Save Status, Anything is possible, but it seems to me unlikely that this is a conflict with another add-in

Hello,
Do you have the same issue with the Excel and PowerPoint?
Thanks in advance.

I use Word more than Excel or Ppt, but i tried them.

Save Status behaves as one would expect on both apps.

Hope this helps.

1. Can you take a screenshot of your Word add-ins manager? Please attach the screenshot in the topic.
2. Please also try to disable the antivirus software of your computer and go to check it again.
Thanks

1. Screenshot attached.
2. i use Malwarebytes (with Windows Defender disabled). i disabled all the protection options offered by Malwarebytes and the Tabs for Word problem is still there, in exactly the same form.

I would note that this problem did not occur when using Word 2010 and the corresponding Tabs addin, with the same set of Word add-ins and the same security software in place. This suggests (to me at least) that this problem does not arise from conflict from another add-in or with my security software.

Hello,

Are you still using the doc file format?
It seems like you are not using the Office 2003.
Are there special settings in your Office?
The new Word files should be the docx file format.
Thanks in advance.

Well that was easy to fix (just delete the existing template Normal.dotm )

But the problem i have reported is still present.

I'm happy to answer your questions, but when are you actually going to fix the problem with Tabs for Word?

As i have already explained (below): with Word not running, I renamed the existing normal.dotm and ran Word again to let it create a new template.

I then ran Word again, and observed that it did not create new documents in compatibility mode (which is a nice bonus).

I then reproduced the problem with Tabs for Word.
I am experiencing the issue with the asterisk not disappearing consistently after saving with Word (Office 365). Other issues as well. Tabs for Word 13.00. Can't seem to update to a later version. Did you discontinue standalone tabs for word?

By the way, a very similar problem exists with the Rename function in Tabs for Word:
1. if i rename a document using the right click on the tab, the new name does not appear in the tab if there is only one tab
2. if i open a second tab, the new name appears
etc etc

Regards
